It's rare that I download an app and apprehend immediately that it's a must-have. But that's what happened with Meal Plans - Food on the Table. Within seconds of opening it, I saw a few things right away: It's for people who like to cook; it somehow interfaces with a large number of prominent grocery stores; it makes the process of shopping for recipe ingredients ridiculously simple; and it's easy to use. What Meal Plans does is give you the choice of different recipes to cook, puts together the ingredient list, allows you to specify your favorite store, and tells you what that store has on sale. You can specify number of servings per recipe, and the ingredient amounts will scale to fit. As you purchase each item, you can check it off on your list. You can also email the shopping list to whomever does the shopping. The only real knock I might have against it, and it's a minor one, is that you can't have more than one meal plan going at a time, or the ingredients will all mix with each other. Given that one meal at a time is what this app is for, however, that's a somewhat meaningless criticism.
