One could make the argument that sports is mostly about stats. There is a kind of geekery about paying attention to all the numbers that surround professional sports, like those for distance, victories, points, lifetime averages, etc. If the NFL wanted to create an app just to showcase stats, it would probably be very successful. However, with NFL '11, they did more than that. There is more information to be had in this one app than anyone could get to comfortably. You can get updated scores, news, video and photos, upcoming game schedules, tickets, and so much more, it's an embarrassment of riches. And if you designate a favorite team, the app will alert you when a game starts, when the score changes, and other events you'll want to know about as they happen.
