A mildly engaging turn-based game with a nice art style.

Is that a pirate in your pocket, or ARRRRR you just glad to see me?
Playing this game was worth being able to write that headline alone. Pocket Pirates is a light romp through a turn-based strategy genre. It's non-offensive. It could do more. When engaging enemies in battle, there is a pendulum gauge that determines how strongly you hit the enemy based on when you tap it. It's possible to take foes down with a single hit if you tap it just right. However, the gaming standard known as "grinding" is in full force here, where in order to beat higher-level enemies, you have to repeatedly fight lower-level ones, and this can be wearisome. Also, there is no way to exit a battle prematurely, even if you engaged someone accidentally. At the same time, however, there doesn't appear to be any penalty for dying, so it all works out, I suppose. Try Pocket Pirates; you might enjoy it. -- Keoni C.
