What the heck are we defending, anyway?
Tower Defense games are fine, overall. If they're ubiquitous to the point of absurdity, it's only because people just seem to love them. But that does result in a lot of very similar gameplay, making it seem like it's just the same game over and over again. DefendR Free is pretty much what you'd expect, but the one way it innovates is in between matches, where you are allowed to allocate points to upgrade your metagame: You can choose to have more lives per round, or gain more money with each downed foe, etc. It plays well enough, and perhaps you'll find it to your liking, but this won't excite people who don't already enjoy the tower defense genre. -- Keoni C.
